Mousam River Wildlife Sanctuary

When I was a freshman in college, I had a professor who gifted me a notebook. She asserted that any creative should have a notebook on hand. Admittedly, I don’t write in it as much as I maybe should since I always have my phone on me, but every now and again I’ll write down things that resonate with me, including quotations. Here are a few of them:

“In the same way your heart feels and your mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares. If you don't, then it doesn't.” - Brennan Lee Mulligan

“Our capacity for love increases for every person we meet.” - Griffin McElroy

“You can’t rush the universe. You can’t pull open the flower.” - Jen Sinero

“There will be times when standing alone feels too hard, too scary, and we'll doubt our ability to make our way through the uncertainty. Someone somewhere will say, 'Don't do it, you don't have what it takes to survive the wilderness.' This is when you reach deep into your wild heart and say, 'I am the wilderness.’” - Brené Brown

“Remember tonight… for it’s the beginning of forever.” - Dante Alighieri

“Go to the Buddha, sit with him, and show him your pain.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

“Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

“When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.” - Ken Keeler

“I long so much to make beautiful things. But beautiful things require effort and disappointment and perseverance.” - Vincent Van Gogh

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” - Heraclitus
